Our History
Nitta Corporation was founded in 1885 and was Japan’s first manufacturer of power transmission belts. From this beginning, Nitta has expanded its activities into many industrial products. Today, Nitta is active in all types of industrial belting, conveyor systems, air filtration, engineered rubber products, plastic hose and tubing, industrial wipers, and mechatronic sensor systems. Additionally, Nitta has several affiliates. Among these are Unitta Company (automotive belts) and Rodel Nitta (precision polishing systems for semiconductor manufacturing).
Nitta Corporation of America (NCA) is Nitta’s Western Hemisphere subsidiary, with responsibility for industrial belting, hydraulic hoses, pneumatic tubing, and industrial wiper products. In the 1970’s Nitta entered the US market with a small sales office in the Northeast. In these early years, Nitta was mainly focused on the textile industry and decided to move the sales office to Moncks Corner, South Carolina. In 1980, Nitta expanded and began belt fabrication in a small facility in a suburb of Atlanta. Since then, growth has been continual. Today, we occupy a 133,000-square-foot building, manufacturing truly American-made nylon core and aramid cord belting on-site. We stock hundreds of belt types and serve customers throughout the Americas.
